Accounting Assistant – State College, PA

 

The Accounting Assistant will be expected to assist the accounting team with a variety of daily and monthly tasks, including, but not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end reconciliations and payroll processing. Expectations

  • Support the accounting and management teams with accounting functions
    • Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
    • Work with project managers to set-up new projects and budget changes on existing projects
    • Review pre-billing and percent complete reports
    • Assist with monthly backlog report, preparation of annual budgets, financial reports, and special projects
    • Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes
  • Process Payroll
  • Work with the accounting team to:
    • Generate and distribute accounting statements and reports
    • Analyze financial reports and records
    • Make recommendations relative to procedures, accounting of assets and reserves, process and provider flow
    • Assure fixed asset records are current and reconciled to the General Ledger
    • Prepare and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting records
    • Analyze, design, and implement financial systems and procedures to optimize effectiveness and corporate profitability
    • Accounts receivable payments from entry to filing
    • Accounts payable payments from entry to payment and filing
    • Expense report processing
    • Accounts receivable invoice filing
  • Assist operations team in creating and maintaining project reports
  • Establish quality control and maintain attention to detail in the face of deadlines
  • Interact with other administrative staff to balance workload.  Be a team player and be accountable to other team members to complete assigned tasks
  • Continually assess and revise the manner in which assignments are accomplished to meet and/or exceed standards, improve productivity and quality, and meeting or exceeding the needs of internal and external clients
  • Reports Directly to the Controller

 
Basic Requirements, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in the field of Accounting
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting
  • Experience with processing payroll with ADP or other similar payroll systems preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office – especially Excel and Word
  • Exceptional mathematical aptitude with problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Team Player who can excel in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities
  • Willingness to work required hours to meet client, company and project needs
  • Valid Driver’s License with the ability to drive your own vehicle to client locations and other MCP offices
