As Director of People Operations, you and your team will be responsible for designing and executing a people operations strategy that delivers against this experience and supports our ambitious business growth. You will partner with Finance, Operations, and Leadership teams on a regular basis to create a collaborative and high-performance environment where our people can thrive and carry on the entrepreneurial spirit upon which Prolific was founded.


As part of the People Operations team, you will develop innovative programs that keep employees engaged and enable them to deliver their life’s best work, while ensuring there are clear, established processes. This position will be responsible for the core People Operations areas including employee onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, employment law, compliance, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and talent attraction. We are looking for someone who is highly knowledgeable in their craft, loves to collaborate, and has the courage to challenge the norm. You will be extremely reliable, but not afraid to explore the unknown in search of the path of the greatest impact.



  • Own the relationship with Prolific’s HRIS, benefits and payroll systems and optimize the value to all employees
  • Own execution of Prolific’s policies related to people operations (immigration, relocation, hiring practices, etc.) and liaise with legal counsel to ensure compliance
  • Provide coaching to Directors and Managers across the business in areas of conflict resolution, career development and people management
  • Work closely with all employees to build relationships, provide career development support and aid with conflict resolution
  • Provide guidance, mentorship and support to the People Operations team
  • Partner with department leads to structure a learning and development strategy
  • Collaborate with ERG leads to iterate on initiatives related to diversity and inclusion, and partner with Talent Lead to drive related programs and policies
  • Manage the People Operations budget
  • Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies alongside the Talent Lead and ensure a consistent candidate experience
  • Manage the performance development program to help identify capability and performance gaps
  • Drive frameworks and tools for managing performance and advancement
  • Partner with Finance on compensation structure for new and existing employees
  • Stay informed on trends in HR and Talent Acquisition, particularly within the technology sector


  • Significant experience in an HR or People Operations Generalist role within an agency environment, with increasing responsibilities over time.
  • Specific experience developing and managing programs and initiatives related to performance management, employee relations, policy and compliance
  • Extensive working knowledge of NY employment law required; significant working knowledge of California employment law required; working knowledge of North Carolina employment law preferred
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Substantial experience in compensation and benefits
  • Experience using data to inform people programs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven project leadership skills
  • Experience driving programs across multiple office locations
  • Knowledge of the Agile/lean methodology is preferred
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, influencing, problem solving, mediation and decision making skills
