Licensed Clinician (Temp-Perm)

Boston, MA
Full-Time

Job Description

Job Description:

The Office of Counseling & Advocacy Services is seeking a compassionate, culturally competent Licensed Clinician for a full-time, temporary-to-permanent position. Reporting to the Director, this role offers a direct path to transition into a regular, fully benefitted position based on performance and institutional needs. In this role, you will provide vital mental health services to a vibrant, diverse student body of creators and performing artists, utilizing a short-term treatment model to help them navigate psychological challenges and achieve balance. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Clinical Services:

  • Caseload Management: Maintain an ongoing clinical caseload using a short-term therapy model, with direct clinical services capped at 65% of total time per AUCCCD guidelines.
  • Assessment & Psychotherapy: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, provide individual and group psychotherapy, and coordinate referrals to community providers for long-term care or psychiatric evaluation.
  • Crisis Intervention: Deliver immediate crisis support as part of the daytime on-call clinician rotation and respond effectively to campus mental health emergencies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation within the counseling electronic medical record system.

Collaboration & Community Outreach:

  • Mental Health Initiatives: Develop and implement community-faced mental health initiatives tailored to the unique needs of various student populations.
  • Psycho-Educational Programming: Partner with the broader Health and Wellness staff to deliver preventative outreach and wellness programming across campus.
  • Consultation: Provide professional consultation to faculty, staff, and student leaders to foster a supportive ecosystem for students.

What You'll Bring

  • Education & Licensure: Master’s degree and current licensure in Massachusetts (LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist), or license eligibility within 6 months of hire. Must maintain professional liability insurance. A degree in Music Therapy is strongly preferred.
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong psychological assessment and counseling skills. A certification in Music Therapy is highly preferred.
  • Multicultural Competency: Proven track record of social justice and multicultural competencies, with an innate ability to engage with a highly diverse student population.
  • Theoretical Knowledge: Solid understanding of student development and psychological principles within a higher education framework.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Hybrid Model: This position operates on a flexible hybrid schedule tied to the academic calendar. You will work primarily in person during high-demand periods (such as the start of semesters). When classes are in session, the role includes one remote day per week, expanding to two non-consecutive remote days during lower-demand periods like breaks and summer.
  • Availability: Requires occasional evening, weekend, and holiday availability to accommodate on-call duties or marquee campus events (e.g., Orientation, Opening Day, Parent/Family Weekend).
  • Special Consideration: While not prohibited, applicants should carefully consider these expectations before beginning or maintaining a private practice, or accepting/maintaining other part-time employment, before accepting an offer of employment at Berklee.

Why Berklee?

  • Mission-Driven Impact: Guide and support the well-being of the world's most inspired young musicians, theater artists, and dancers.
  • Cultural Access: Enjoy nightly access to world-class music, theater, and dance performances right on campus.
  • Professional Growth: This temporary-to-permanent pipeline positions you for potential transition into a full-time career with comprehensive health, dental, and retirement matching options.

Hiring Range: $45.00 to $50.00 per hour; salary dependent on experience and education.
