Responsibilities
- Provide pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and review medical histories
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide education regarding expectations and recovery
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and moderate sedation as prescribed
- Monitor patient vital signs and condition before, during, and after procedures
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
- Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance of endoscopy equipment
- Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards
Requirements
- Active RN License in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of recent Endoscopy, GI Lab, Procedural Nursing, or related experience
- Current BLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification required
- Moderate Sedation experience preferred
- Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment
