Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is currently seeking a CAD Project Specialist to join our Customer Service team with this position to be located in Southern California. As CAD Project Specialist, you will mainly be responsible for providing project work assistance to customers, which would include answering technical questions relating to products, managing the Salesforce.com process, and providing AutoCAD drawings of requested work.


Note: Up to 50% travel may be required. This may involve traveling to sales territories to conduct face-to-face meetings with existing and potential customers.


Responsibilities of the CAD Project Specialist:

  • Serve as point of contact for all new requests and ownership of SFDC efforts
  • Prepare final package for all Project Works projects including quotes, drawing package and submittal sheets
  • Send Project Works packages to Sales Team for distribution to channel
  • Manage document control for all estimates and generate Request for Information (RFI)
  • Process change orders and additions on key projects
  • Collaborate with in-house resources to establish cost and price on custom items
  • Obtain current pricing from Sources as required to prepare estimates as listed above.
  • Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions
  • Inspect drawings for accuracy and recognize problems or issues with customer-submitted drawings and clarify requirements before completing drawings
  • Review incoming orders for completeness and accuracy; ensure that orders have corresponding quotations and validates pricing
  • Provide excellent communication to customers related to their order status from order receipt to order shipment
  • Develop understanding of customers’ needs and take actions to ensure that needs are met
  • Create positive customer experience with internal and external customers during order life cycle, which include order revisions, special delivery requirements, and expediting requests
  • Process submittal sample requests by collaborating with suppliers


Required Qualifications and Education of the CAD Project Specialist:

  • Associate’s Degree with an emphasis on Design, Architecture, or Mechanical field or additional relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience in architectural office or construction industry
  • Experience using AutoCAD software and 3D modeling
  • Prior work in a customer-facing role
  • 1+ years of CAD experience
  • Experience using  AutoCAD 2016 or newer and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with architect specified installed product
  • Ability to develop CAD details and layouts related to products in different material forms, for example, sheet metal, solid wood, and veneer components


Preferred Qualifications and Education of the CAD Project Specialist:

  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor and/or REVIT 3D software
