Our ATS Assembly and Test division is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Wixom, Michigan.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a full range of human resource functions. In addition to its administrative duties, this role maintains an ongoing relationship with employees to promote a positive work environment



  • Providing support and clarification to employees and leaders regarding HR initiatives and policies
  • Coach and support senior staff to onboard new employees, manage employee escalations, develop employee relations and implement employee initiatives.
  • Design and implement new employee engagement initiatives to enhance and support employee onboarding and orientation, skill development and retention.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment; enter requisitions, source, pre-screen interview candidates, schedule and conduct interviews, contact references, perform background checks, prepare offer packages and co-ordinates new hire logistics.
  • Co-ordinate and conduct sessions for new hire orientation
  • Source and engage external agencies to secure contract labor resources
  • Creation of contractor agreements and statements of work
  • Responsible for the on-going creation and tracking of KPI’s directly related to key value drivers connected to the ATS Business Model.
  • Lead and support problem-solving initiatives across departments using ATS Business Model.
  • Maintain employee data in the performance management program. Enter goals, update positions, release performance reviews in the HRIS and follow-up to ensure completion per the established timeline.
  • Administer the annual salary and wage review process within the guidelines of the annual performance review cycle. 
  • Maintain accurate and up to date employee information in the HRIS.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll summary notes to be sent to payroll for processing
  • Enter employee benefits information and work with benefit provider regarding member claim inquiries and interpretation of benefit policy
  • Ability to facilitate all leaves of absences and coordination of these benefits
  • Create reports as needed/requested as well as complete monthly reports related to headcount, turnover, and hiring.
  • Maintain employee hard copy files and performing filing as required.
  • Participate in quality audits for various quality systems in use at ATS
  • Responsible for HSE compliance tracking, assignment of relevant training, incident reporting and updating of policies and procedures in coordination with the Canadian & U.S HSE departments.
  • Carry out hazard assessments, inspections and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Conduct training for various HSE programs
  • Handle workers’ compensation process and ensure timely filing and processing of claims
  • Initiate work and travel visas through the third party provider
  • Additional administrative tasks as required
  • Respond to manager and employee inquiries regarding immigration.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.



• Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
• Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
• Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
• Report defect in any equipment or protective device
• Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
• Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
• Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
• Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
• Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.


• A post-secondary degree specializing in human resources or equivalent, and in the process of completion of PHR/SHRM-CP certification.



• Requires at least 3 – 5 years’ experience in coordinating and providing human resources services in a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy at all times
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and coaching skills
• Knowledge of labor laws and best HR practices.
