Job Description

Pre-Sales Engineer



The Pre-sales engineer will be responsible for supporting sales representatives by providing technical knowledge to clients and potential clients. Providing support in both pre- and post-sale capacities including performing installations and implementations They will also be responsible for assessing, planning, designing, IT Solutions and Services to meet the overall needs of the customer. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on data centers as well as someone who has a high level of attention to detail to help us keep our services running smoothly and constantly improving


Specific duties:

  • Being the primary Senior System Engineer Resource for all projects from conception to completion.
  • Customer Support Contract & Agreement Support
  • Serving as the Primary Contact for Local Data Center Support & Management
  • Site Survey /Planning for facility relocations, move coordination, LV Cabling Projects, Customer Support & Remediation.
  • Performing project assessment, creating project plans for implementation, deployment, cutover and decommission of old systems.
  • Conducting Site and Network surveys and assessments.
  • Security Services, help scope out security opportunities. Work with Steve Forti for onsite assistance for Risk Assessments.
  • Providing Level 3 Technical Support and internal LAN/WAN Support for customers and internal resources.


Technology Services Senior Level Support:

  • Server Support, Stand Alone, Virtual Environment -Hyper V, VMware, Linux
  • Backup & DR -Replication Support and Remediation.
  • Application Support, Optimization, Performance, Virtualization Issues, API Integration. Microsoft 365 Migration planning & deployment. SQL Migration planning, integration and deployment.
  • Connectivity and Infrastructure Support, LAN, WAN Remote Access, VPN, Remote Replication Implementation and Remediation
  • WAN Topology & Connectivity planning and Implementation. Circuit Configuration and Troubleshooting, Internal Routing or Cabling, Switches & Routers, VLAN, MPLS, Fiber


Pre-Sales – Technology Services- Existing System Assessments:

  • Server Virtualization Projects- Hyper V- VMware, Hyper Converged
  • System Backup & DR Strategies, Replication, Disaster Recovery
  • Pre-Sales System Network Assessments, Site Surveys, Discovery Initiatives
  • Assistance with writing proposals, providing detailed SOW.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system alerts and facilitate, process, and resolve incidents of normal services and minimize impact on customers
  • Perform remote monitoring and management for customer’s network, Data Center, Storage, and backup services including support, configuration, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform proactive maintenance for OS, applications, services, routers, switches, servers, and critical devices.
  • Monitor trends of system issues and propose solutions to recurring problems
  • Monitor daily operations including weekend activities and resolve open issues
  • Record, classify, and prioritize all incoming customer incidents and ensure proper data as well as complete incident documentation and prompt updates
  • Analyze and optimize the operating state of the customer environment for managed services and devices to identify degradation or potential issues and take proper preventative measures
  • Implement system changes on production servers
  • Troubleshoot issues across the stack (hardware, network, applications, database, storage) and assist other system engineers to resolve advanced system issues
  • Perform routine system performance analysis, recurring system maintenance, network troubleshooting and system administration
  • Escalate incident as necessary internally or to a 3rd party resource based on contracted and expected SLAs
  • Perform proactive and comprehensive patching management to keep customer’s system, software, and antivirus updated and secure



  • 4+ years of work experience in a production data center setting
  • 4+ years of experience in Microsoft technologies (Windows Server 2008R2, Active Directory, DNS, Windows Clustering)
  • 2+ years of experience with server monitoring and process automation tools



  • CompTIA A+, MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician), VMware Technology certification (Preferred)
  • Previous work experience with MS SQL Server and SQL Performance Analysis
  • Previous work experience High Performance Storage Subsystems (e.g. 3PAR, Netapp, etc.)
  • Previous work experience with MS Windows Performance Monitoring and Analysis
  • Familiarity with network technologies including VLAN, HTTP(S), SSL/TLS, SFTP, Load-balancers
